Description

Welcome to the Puppy Place--where every puppy finds a home! When Lizzie sees an ad in the paper for a dog in need of a new home, she is immediately concerned. Why is this person so anxious to get rid of their puppy? Rocky is a cuddly, couch potato of a Bulldog. He was originally brought in as a guard dog but he would rather nap than protect a store. While fostering Rocky, Lizzie learns that the puppy is very stubborn and not open to changing his lazy ways. But every pet owner has a different need and Lizzie is able to find an older couple in need of a companion who are more than happy to accomodate the sleepy puppy's lifestyle. Ellen Miles loves dogs, which is why she has a great time writing Puppy Place books. And guess what? She loves cats, too! That's why she came up with a series called Kitty Corner. Ellen lives in Vermont and loves to be outdoors every day, walking, biking, skiing, or swimming, depending on the season. She also loves to read, cook, explore her beautiful state, play with dogs, and hang out with friends and family. Visit her website at EllenMiles.net. From The Puppy Place: Rocky Lizzie caught her breath and took a closer look. Free Puppy, the ad said. "Bulldog." Then there was a phone number. That was all. She frowned. Why didn't it say "To a Good Home"? It sounded like the person was just going to give the puppy to the first person who called. That was no good. Ms. Dobbins, the director of the local animal shelter where Lizzie volunteered every week, would never do that. If someone wanted to adopt a pet from Caring Paws, they had to fill out a long application with lots of information about who they were, where they lived, and how they planned to take care of the animal that was about to become part of their family. Ms. Dobbins didn't let just anyone walk in, pay the adoption fee, and walk back out with a cat or dog.
